Sausage Bake

I was looking for a breakfast bake the other morning that didn't have to sit in the fridge over night because I wanted to make it right then. I found this one, I always like to search through the B & B recipes, they are usually sooo good.

I found this particular sausage bake from the 1882 Aleksander House Bed & Breakfast, recipe found here

My version below:

Sausage Bake

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter
1 lb country sausage
3/4 loaf of French bread, cubed
2 tsps dried Basil

1-1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

7 eggs
2-1/8 cups milk

Melt butter. Pour into large rectangle casserole dish. Brown sausage and set aside. Layer half the cubed bread in dish and sprinkle with Basil and cheese. Sprinkle browned sausage over herbs and cheese. Layer rest of bread.Beat eggs well and add milk. Pour over contents of baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour or until set. Cut into squares and serve hot.

So delicious, my family loved it!

Before I sign off I want to recommend a book that I just finished and cannot say good enough about. It is amazing.  It's called "31 days to clean" by Sarah mae.

I think that you will be encouraged by this book, I know I sure was, here is my little review:

"I cannot begin to tell you what an inspiration this book has been to me, as I read along your little excerpts I feel as though you are describing me, never read a book that I felt so in touch with before, yet so encouraged, and seeing the things I need to change and the HOPE I have to change."

~Blessings to all,

Marie
